I understand Imposter Syndrome, because I lived it.

I wasn’t always an Imposter Syndrome expert.

I had my own Imposter Syndrome beast to tame.

At 2am one morning, I found myself sobbing at my laptop. Sleep-deprived. Sleep-refusing baby screaming. Migraine pounding. Report due for my hyper-critical boss.

All I could hear was that voice screaming in my head: 

‘You worthless idiot! You’re nothing but a fraud.’

My childhood taught me to work harder than everyone else in an attempt to appear perfect. From a dysfunctional background, I escaped at 16 and built my life on my own terms.

I dedicated myself to education and career advancement. I worked compulsively hard. But this ambition fed every insecurity I had.

I perfected coping strategies that worked – until they didn’t.

While working at a Big 4 consulting firm in my ‘dream job,’ my secret fear of being found out led to burnout and hospitalisation with severe migraines.

After another corporate position, an adventure running a tourism business in Thailand, and returning to corporate life with a young family, I found myself riding that same exhausting beast – Imposter Syndrome.

That’s when I had my ‘basta’ moment – an Italian word meaning ‘Enough. That’s it. I’m done.’

I walked into the office the next morning, handed in that report, and quit.

From there, I began an internal revolution. I did deep work on myself, training with world-class personal growth leaders. I carefully curated everything I learned to rebuild my self-identity and heal my deep-seated sense of inadequacy and Imposter Syndrome for good. That’s how I became the Imposter Syndrome expert I am today.
